Latest Google updates by the best seo company

As the best SEO company, we know that NEW updates sound exciting. But you know it’s something big when Google introduces SEO updates. This one is not just any update Google has refreshed its Algorithm majorly this time.

It’s unwrapping time! The June- August 2021 core algorithm update, called “The Page Experience Update”.

The following update tries to provide a better experience for users by prioritizing web pages that load faster,non-shifting, stable pages to read. Google has always had some page experience metrics like mobile-friendliness, HTTPS-security, and intrusive interstitials.

They also have fast pages since 2010, but with the 2021 Page Experience update, Google is now introducing three totally fresh metrics to live both speed and overall page experience. Let us have a look at the new metrics called the Core Web Vitals.

WHAT ARE THE CORE WEB VITALS?

The new Core Web Vitals include the largest contentful paint (LCP), first input delay (FID), as well as cumulative layout shift (CLS).

In addition to helping as lightweight ranking signals, these new metrics will serve website owners to monitor and improve the loading speed, responsiveness, and provide stability to their websites to finally build a better user experience (UX). Isn’t that what everyone wants when they browse the internet?

*insert pictures of LCP, FID & CLS*

To break it down for you LCP is a metric that indicates the render (loading) time of the largest image or text block visible, relative to which the page first starts loading.

So to provide a good user experience, sites should strive to have the Largest Contentful Paint of 2.5 seconds or less. Which is the maximum threshold for human attention.

FID:

As the name suggests, First Input Delay is a Core Web Vitals metric that picks up on a user’s first impression/ action of a site’s interactivity.

It then measures the time from when a user first interacts with a page to the time when the browser is really ready to answer that interaction. Basically calculating the bridge gap between users’ actions & the web’s response. Isn’t that cool?

CLS:

The final metric measures page stability. To give you an example, if you’ve ever tried to read an article, after which the page shifts and you have to find your place in the article again, that annoying shift is the page layout shift.

The total layout shift is the cumulative shift in a page’s layout as it loads. To prevent the same Google has added this metric to its core algorithm update

HOW TO IMPROVE THE CORE WEB VITAL SCORES?

With the help of a web developer run a quick audit of your site through Page Speed Insights or Lighthouse to see where your website stands with respect to the web vitals. If your website is scoring in the “green” on all three metrics and therefore passing the Core Web Vitals assessment, just simply continue to monitor these numbers on a weekly basis. If not try to revise the content to fit the bars or simply contact the best SEO company.
